Romanian legends

Some of the most famous legends come from Romania, like vampires or werewolves. Romania is an East European country which is known for its lush mythology. Even though this country has a lot of things to be proud of, like culture, history and tourists spots, we need to admit that wherever you go in this world and ask about Romania, there are big chances to hear something about supranatural creatures, witches or Vlad the Impaler.

Vlad the Impaler or Vlad III was a Wallachian ruler. At present, he is a very important historical personality in Romania. The legend of Count Dracula says that this voivode was a vampire, a creature of the night that sleeps during the day and hunts people for their blood at night time. The vampires are undead souls that suck blood from humans. They are immortal, but the tales say that they can be killed with a wooden stake or turned into ash when sunrays touch them.

Another well-known Romanian supranatural creature is the werewolf. A werewolf, also known as a licantrop, is a human being with the ability to turn into a creature similar with a wolf. The werewolves are shapeshifters that take their wolf form at full moon nights. Some legends say that they transform every night and they can be killed only by silver weapons, like bullets, daggers or knives.

These are just two of the creatures from Romanian legends. There are a lot of them, like witches, poltergeists or ghosts, but I will let you descover all by yourselves.
